Asbestos and Mesothelioma

Asbestos and mesothelioma are associated and they almost go hand in hand. Asbestos is the known cause of mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is a cancer that affects the protective lining of the lungs, heart and abdomen. It is a very fatal illness and the prognosis is not good at all. It has been found that when a person is diagnosed to have the disease, they usually have at least two years to live. This is for patients who have a very advanced case of the disease. Asbestos is responsible for all this and it is a substance that is very useful as an insulator making products that are fire and heat resistant. It is a substance that occurs naturally and it has been said to be a miracle mineral. This is because it is resistant to heat and fire. It has continued to cause so much devastation to victims.

Workers who work in the following industries are at a very high risk of asbestos exposure. The industries are building construction, ship construction, asbestos mining industries and the list is endless. There are many symptoms that you can look out for when you are affected by the disease. When you have pleural mesothelioma, a lot of fluid will build up in your system and you will experience difficulty in breathing, you will have severe chest pains and many others.

Usually, when you experience the symptoms, it will be many years after you got the exposure to asbestos. When you visit the doctor, he will express his concern about asbestos and mesothelioma. You have to give your asbestos history and if you think you do not have any, try to think of someone who could have been close to you who were constantly exposed to asbestos. When the cancer affects your abdomen, you will have weight loss, bowel obstruction, pain and so many others. Make sure you consider all the treatments available so that you can get better. The medication will play a major role in slowing down the disease. Make sure you empower yourself with information on asbestos and mesothelioma.
