Although surgery is the most effective (and therefore the most widely used) breast cancer treatment method, there are several other ways of coping with the disease, some are more powerful than others. They include radiation therapy, chemotherapy or hormone therapy, each with its own assets and disadvantages.

Most of them, however, are used in combination with surgery for best effects, either prior to, in order to reduce the size of the tumor or after surgery, to remove any remaining cancer cells. For a better understanding of these alternative methods of treatment for breast cancer, let’s take a closer look at each… Continue reading

Breast Cancer can be treated effectively if it is detected early enough. Some 95 percent of breast cancers are discovered by the patient herself when she notices a lump. In all too many cases the discovery is made by chance and the lump may be quite large. The good news, though, is that most cities have a breast cancer treatment center.

The cure rate for breast cancer could be greatly improved if all women made a routine of monthly self-examination and then consulted a physician immediately if they found the least indication of a thickening or lump. Most such lumps are… Continue reading

The type of surgery recommended in any given case of breast cancer has significance for postoperative therapy. Breast cancer surgery may be less extensive or radical where the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes or to other parts of the body; the use of chemotherapy and radiation therapy may then be more aggressive. With the dead food diets, and electromagnetic fields, and toxic personal care products, it isn’t really very surprising at all. As you read every… Continue reading

Editorial Reviews

Product Description
As engaging as it is insightful, Five by Elizabeth A. Sargent infuses the female soul with magic and wanderlust. Truly a delightful and inspired read, this memoir basks in the glory of life as only a survivor can. While a great part of this autobiography takes place during the author’s fight with breast cancer, the best parts forgo the treatment and work as a dreamscape about loss, specifically experiencing the premature loss of her parents and friends, and lighthearted banter about losing… Continue reading
