With the vast amount of media attention given to cervical cancer since the introduction of the new HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccines, any female or parent could certainly be forgiven for believing that the risk of cervical cancer is a serious health threat to the female population.

Cervical cancer symptoms are hard to be distinguished from normal female reproductive processes. However, the much larger danger with cervical cancer symptoms is that they often go unnoticed because they mimic so many other common conditions such as PMS and ovulation pains. These common symptoms that most females have at one time or another are written off without ever being reported to a doctor. At other times cervical cancer can have no symptoms at all. Adenosquamous Cancer Of The Uterus

The uterus or womb located inside the pelvis of a female is prone to problems such as fibroids, cervical cancer, scarring,uterine cancer and endometriosis. The uterine wall consists of various cell types.

Cancer is named according to the cells affected by it. About 95% of uterine cancer cases are where the endometrial cells lining the uterus are affected. Cancer affecting glandular cells is called an adenocarcinoma and sometimes has squamous cells - as found on the surface of the skin and cervix. Non-cancerous squamous cells are called adenocanthomas cancer and malignant ones are called adnosquamous carcinomas.

Nearly thirty years ago, I was a new registered nurse in labor and delivery. It was a pleasant and enjoyable unit to work.
